Just watching a tv about the Royal Variety show and just wondered if any film exists of Boney Ms 1978 performance. I have never been able to find anything.

Did they also take part in 1978? To my knowledge they only attended once, and that was on November 26th 1979 at the Theatre Royal, on Drury lane. Some clips of the show are on YouTube, but not the one by Boney M.

No, my mistake they only took part in 1979. I have never seen a clip of it though since the event. I remember there was some negative feeling after the appearance though as they mimed to a medley of their hits whereas its a show where people always perform live. Unfortunately the headline was 'Phoney M'. I would still love to see it again though.

I saw it at the time and the fact that they were lip-synching stood out a mile. It wasn't that their performance wasn't good ( all of them were spot-on! ) but there was live performances from the likes of Amii Stewart ( totally live ) and amazing. Liz was also very pregnant so the whole thing seemed a little limp. They performed ' Holi-Holiday ' ' Babylon ' and ' Brown Girl ' if memory serves.

Liz can't have been that pregnant at the Royal Variety Performance. Her child was born in late June 1980, if I remember correctly and the show was in late November 1979. That means that she only was about 2 months pregnant at the time of the show. How very pregnant could she then have been?

I just some footage of it on a Boney M site. Not the actual performance but Boney M being introduced to the Queen and the group taking the curtain call at the end of the show. Their must be some footage of the performance somewhere!
