That's what I thought - WOW! She's apparently working on a new dance album too - hope it's not a load of rehashed badly produced Boney M. tracks like the 'Sunny' single she did a couple of years back. I wish they (the four) would all stop rehashing Boney M. trcaks and get on with some new material.

Snippets of Boney M. performing Exodus, FUTURE WORLD, and Somewhere In The World in Spain! www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwK0Ev5wzzwFuture World, interestingly, is the white label mix. The full Exodus performance has previously been on Youtube but appears to have been taken off again.

Thank you, John! Fantastic - and indeed, really odd to see them having to mime to Farian's voice, although seeing them mime to 'Oceans Of Fantasy' is even more bizarre! As usual, Bobby seems to not know the lyrics, and at 2:41 he's too early by the mike to do the 'Keep on, keep on dancing' part!
I wonder how many rare TV-appearances are still out there that we haven't seen. The German Boney M. book from 1978 mentions them doing Fever in Yugoslavia.

'Fever' is one of my favourite Farian productions for Boney M. ! I love the Peggy lee version but I think Farian got the Boney M. version spot on. I met Liz in 2000 and suggested that she perform 'Fever' which was not part of her touring Boney M. show ! She's been sticking it in since.... Thanks Liz ! She sings it really well live.

Erm, isnt that because she was the great lead singer of Boney M? As for the show, ok she's singing over a recorded track but that's not eaxctly a crime. Doesn't just about everyone do that these days. It certainly looks as if the audience is having a great time, and she's playing to a full house. Not doing too bad at nearly sixty if you ask me!

Liz' voice has changed a lot since 1990 - the never-ending live performances over the past 20 years, combined with a wrong way of singing, has worn out her voice which has grown hoarse, deep and more nasal. It's clear that she struggles to sing the old songs in their original key because she cannot reach the high notes anymore as shown on in the clips above. You would hardly guess it's the same person singing in the microphone that you hear on the (pitched) backing track. On the other hand, Liz proves that performing live with a band and transposing, i.e. lowering the musical key, she can still deliver a fairly good performance www.youtube.com/watch?v=qugsQoztDK4&feature=relatedwww.youtube.com/watch?v=gCoTh6VZPGI&feature=relatedalthough, admitted, it is a far cry from how glorious she sounded in the late 1970s. While Marcia's voice hasn't changed that drastically, I must admit that I'm not impressed either from what I've seen of her live shows - mostly, too, sung over Liz' lead voice on those '88 remixes that the Boney M. members seem to hold so dear. But as Sheyla Bonnick has proven - as long as the public get their three-women-one-man formation and hear the classics, they don't really care too much what they get. C'est la vie.

I have to agree with you on most things. I find Liz's deeper voice less pleasurable to listen to. Was her voice maybe speeded up a bit in the Boney M years, as the Abba voices were?

I remember reading (somewhere?) that when Frank Farian brought Liz into the studio he made her sing in a higher register to her natural singing voice (that kind of ties in with the state of her voice today - I believe that she was also more than a bit of a smoker when she was very young prior to joining Boney M. - wonder what she liked to smoke? Hmmmm.... here is a recent youtube upload (today) of Liz and her Boney M. show live ..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=ie-1S-y34fMI think Marcia's voice sonds very strong still but if she is going to sing Boney M. then please have new arrangements done to suit her voice... Maizie keeps sounding better live too!

That was a good performance by Liz - let's not talk about Tony Tony's vocals, though - and the band sounded great. Although it's natural that a voice changes over the years and the vocal range can diminish somewhat (unless your name is Shirley Bassey), it must be said that Liz never had a wide vocal registre, nor did Boney M.'s material really demand it - so I don't think that's what made her voice change. But a constant heavy tour schedule and too much shouting in shows weakens the voice and make you push even harder to hit the notes which then deteriorates your voice again etc. etc. and become a bad circle. Precious Wilson has completely ruined her wonderful voice which this clip clearly shows www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qIYpYK4DVk- and this wasn't just one bad day with a flu as I have a couple of old clips on VHS that date ten years back and she sounded just the same which is why she prefers to lip-sync and then throw in some 'ooh yeah's and 'clap your hands'. I remember talking to Madeleine Davis, one of the La Mama singers who backed Precious on her LPs, who said that it wasn't uncommon for Precious to lose her voice in the studio back then (when Precious was only in her mid-20s) because she hadn't learned how to sing properly and it can destroy your voice which it did in Precious' case. So if anyone wonders why Precious hasn't recorded since 1993, there's your answer.

What a tragedy for these ladies not to have exercised and trained their voices. Precious Wilson and Liz Mitchell had two of the most recognised vocals in the world. I find it hard to understand why their management did not forsee and try to prevent these problems and get them to take precautions? After all this is their livelihood and their talent?

They really did quite a few 'Children Of Paradise'-performances compared to other singles, didn't they!
